A short distance from the vibrant city of La Libertad, lies Punta Roca Beach, a legendary destination for surfers from all over the world. Its waves, which break right over bedrock, have made it one of the top 10 surfing spots on the planet.
Compared to the iconic Jeffreys Bay wave in South Africa, Punta Roca offers the advantage of warm water, which eliminates the need for wetsuits. Its power and speed make it an ideal challenge for advanced and expert surfers.
From the shore, you can see how the wave breaks some 300 meters offshore, creating an endless line. A wide wall allows for all kinds of maneuvers, while its tubular sections generate an indescribable thrill.
Punta Roca offers waves almost all year round, thanks to its exceptional consistency. However, to witness its epic character, the best time is between March and August, when the South Pacific swell lashes the Salvadoran coasts. The wave can reach up to 4 meters (12 feet) in height, but its ideal point is between 1.5 and 2.5 meters (4 and 8 feet), with southwest swell direction.
More than just a wave, Punta Roca is a unique experience. The roar of the sea, the adrenaline in every maneuver and the camaraderie among surfers create a vibrant atmosphere that invites you to come back again and again.
Discover Punta Roca and feel the energy of one of the best waves in the world.

Surfing
Experience
No matter the tide, Punta Roca always offers ideal waves for surfing. However, it is important to be cautious with its rocky bottom, especially with "mama roca", a boulder that emerges at low tide.
Its consistency and quality have turned it into a world-class scene. Punta Roca has hosted international events such as a World Masters, ALAS Latin American circuit competitions and qualifiers (QS) for the World Tour.
Beyond surfing, the adventure continues in Puerto de La Libertad. Let yourself be enveloped by the hustle and bustle and the scent of the sea in this city that offers everything you need as a traveler.
Enjoy the typical Salvadoran Pupusas and a variety of seafood. For a complete experience, hire a guide who will take you to the best beaches in the area and share with you the secrets of this port city.
